Nic Pehkonen
BIO
Nic Pehkonen (b. 1969) is an artist based in Gloucestershire, UK. His current practice is predominantly focussed on interrogating the UK’s present day nuclear activities, engaging with intertwined subjects of power, weapons and waste.
He also works under the alias of the Nuclear Information Centre (NIC), a quasi-official sounding organisation and nomadic visitor centre where official and unofficial informational boundaries are frequently blurred, nuclear fact and fiction become actively entangled, and questions of selectivity and trust are tacitly raised.
Although largely self-taught, Nic holds an MA in Fine Art from the University of Gloucestershire.
“The NIC is a space where official and unofficial informational boundaries are intentionally blurred and questions of ambiguity, selectivity and trust are tacitly raised.”
